Virbac Microchip Recall

A range of Virbac branded pet microchips (BackHome BioTec) have been identified as having a manufacturing defect. This affects a number of microchips produced between 2009-2012. Virbac have since updated their microchips to an unaffected brand called 'BioGlass".

If your pet's microchip starts with the below numbers, please contact your local Vetcare clinic to organise to get this microchip checked to see whether it is faulty. If it is found to be faulty and non-scanning, a replacement microchip will be put in at no charge to you.

If you are unaware of your pet's microchip number, please feel free to call your local Vetcare clinic to check any details on file. Alternatively pop into any Animates or Animates Vetcare to have your pet scanned.

Vetcare clinics will also be actively checking all microchipped pets during appointments as a proactive measure.

Microchipped pets are 3 x more likely to find their way home. Owners can check and update their NZCAR registered pet and contact details online.
